Lisa Claussen San Diego, CA: Cave Cottage is just outside of the slow-paced,
quaint town of Clarinbridge. It is off the beaten path and rests alongside the
river just shy of Galway Bay. You pass pastures of cows and sheep to get to the
house and can use a turf burning stove for heat. It is rustic and simple and a
great place to "get away" from it all. My family spent the Christmas
weekend at the Cave Cottage. Although sleeping all 6 of us made for a tight
squeeze, we couldn't have asked for a more special or magical Christmas. The
people of Clarinbridge were friendly and looking out for the Americans, "Do
you have your meat for Christmas dinner?" The cottage has a new kitchen,
electric-powered shower, central heating and a washer dryer. Colm Byrne, the
owner of the cottage, has stocked a few games and books for guests, including a
great road atlas of Ireland which we used for our day trips to the Cliffs of
Moher and parts of County Galway and County Mayo. All in all, staying at the
cottage was a great way to experience Ireland and for my family to spend time
together. We all highly recommend it.

Hazel & Keith Williams Galway.: Our Irish holiday was everything we could
have wished for, the setting of the cottage and tranquility really were
tremendous. The proximity to the water and tidal movements, the variety of birds
and the sheer peace of the cottage in its setting gave us an unforgettable
holiday, certainly one to be repeated! The convenience of shopping in the nearby
village for everyday food, and the friendliness of the shopkeepers, the local
hostelries and restaurants and the nearby City of Galway provide all the support
necesary to daily life.(Guiness can be recommended especially with mussels!) Two
recommendations: (l) is a performance of Siamsa at the Claddagh Hall in Galway
City (it's traditional Irish music/dance/poetry/story presented by Irish people
of all ages.(2) is a visit to Moran's Fish Restaurant & Pub in the next
village - a supreme experience in every respect. It's a must!

Cguinane Madrid: As an American leaving in Europe for many years my mental
images of Ireland are closely connected to images of Ireland portrayed in such
films as "The Quite Man". Well, my wife and I were not disappointed
during our recent visit to the Cave Cottage in Co. Galway. John Wayne and
Maureen O Hara did not come by for breakfast but the cottage and the surrounding
area offered everything else. We never thought that we would enjoy the rain and
wind so much but that only served to enrichen this unique experience. If you are
tired of crowded beaches and want some peace and quite, this is for you. The
many pints of Guinness at the local pub singing out of tune Irish songs are not
too bad either! Great experience all in all.

To all the Byrnes, et all,
Our Irish holiday was every thing that we could wish for, the setting of the
cottage and tranquillity really were tremendous. Totally different to the
peace which we so enjoy when we are staying on the farm.I suspect that it
was the proximity of the water and the tidal movement, though it might have
been the quality and quantity of the Guinness which I consumed! A pub in
Ballyvaughan, which we lunched in one fine day, was actually persuaded by
Hazel to serve her with a Guinness shandy, and that included her
introduction to the famous red lemonade.
We became foxed with the paucity of road side indicator signs and even when
we found one, the distance indicated was quoted either in miles or
kilometres. Even better was the fact that the nearer you got to your
destination the signs would indicate that you were further away. Often on
enquiring we were told that our destination was "just up the road". No
distance being offered, indeed I began to wonder whether it was even known.
We came to accept, and return the, " how are you doing?" with or
without the
question mark! Equally so the "alright?"
Greatly enjoyed the shopping experience at Kelly's, how much it reminded me
of my childhood and the village shop.Equally thrilled with the distinctive
performance at the Claddagh Hall, Galway, of Siamsa neither of us would have
missed that introduction to your world of music, poetry, prose and dance.
Morans on the weir too, benefitted from our pleasure in that we had a couple
of visits there, on one occasion Sam and I walked around the headland, on
the shoreline, and returned thataway as well. Found their chowder to be A1,
indeed I'd return just for another bowl full!
Hazel's Consultant rheumatologist, whom we well know had recommended Morans
when he knew that we were coming to Co. Galway, if you go anywhere you must
go there.Quite right!
As you may know we spent quite a bit of time sitting in the sun on the
doorstep, with Rocco to whom we took a fancy, and acknowledged the world as
they passed by.
Brian, & Colum, we were so glad that you own such a wondrous cottage and we
greatly appreciate the fact that you allowed us to partake of its delight
for those days which just flew by. Do hope that your Spanish friends who
followed us have enjoyed their Irish experience as much as we did.
Finally we took another road to Dublin! or rather we started our return
journey by going to Kilgolgan and turning left to, and arriving in Loughrea,
saved time & distance. We were quite pleased with ourselves in carrying out
that adventure!
As ever, Hazel & Keith.

Hola Brian:
Saludos
Antonio
